And in that space under the window
A strange odor did appear
And no one knew just what it was
But strange stories did i hear
One lady said a young man
Who had a broken heart
Blew his brains out one dark night
And his blood still wet that spot
Another fellow told me
An angry man killed his wife
And the dampness that I felt there
Were the tears of her ended life
I heard many terrible tales
And some I did believe
Until, that is, one fateful night
When this I did perceive
One night as I arose from bed
To answer nature's call
I came across my pet dog
His leg lifted to the wall
