Chapter 86 of The Empty City

By Andrew Looney

In the morning, Jim considered his problem. He couldn't quite convince himself that what had happened the night before was simply a fever induced dream, and he was afraid that plugging the TV set back in would just re-open the door through the barrier. This was a situation that Jim didn't wish to encounter again. So he wrapped the cord around the set, took it down the street to a neighborhood dumpster, and heaved it in. It smashed satisfyingly.

Later that day, he went out to the Value Village Thrift Store and bought an old black and white TV set that seemed to work OK.
