Strangers on a Train
When
I reviewed Psycho, I asked myself to list my 5 favorite Hitchcock
movies. The first few were easy: Vertigo, Rear Window, North
by Northwest... and Strangers on a Train. I haven't settled on
#5 yet, but like those first 3, Strangers on a Train stands out
(in my mind, anyway) as being head and shoulders above the others,
one of the best not just of Hitchcock's films, but of all-time.
That climax at the amusement park is intense! Makes a great double
feature with "Throw Mama from the Train".

The
weekend we've been looking forward to for months is finally upon
us. We're here! And assuming Kristin is actually able to get
this page pushed from our hotel room, this update marks an historic
breakthrough for us: our first remote feed! But since there's
just way too much going on for me to adequately report on right
now, you'll just have to be contented with this photo from the
first day in our booth. Tune in next week for the full report!
As I look forward to this weekend's Icehouse tournament, where
I'll be defending my current position as Champion of the World,
I'm reminded of that great classic Twilight Zone episode, "Mr.
Denton on Doomsday." I'm the old gunslinger, and soon I'll
be called out onto the street, to defend my title against a bunch
of young punks who are coming into town just looking to challenge
the current top dog. But I've gone soft... I haven't played Icehouse
in ages! I hope I see Professor Fate's wagon outside on the night
before the showdown. I have a feeling I'm gonna need his help.
Remember Peter
McWilliams!

When I was a kid, one of my favorite playgrounds
was the public library. Yet as an adult, I never seem to go there.
I haven't been to one in years. |
