JFK
I'd already become convinced of the conspiracy by the time
I finally got around to seeing this important film, but I still
learned a few new questions to ponder. On the other hand, while
Oliver Stone's "back and to the left" mantra is pretty
compelling, I was also impressed by Penn & Teller's experiments
in melon-shooting, as described in their book, How to Play
With Your Food. So who knows? The more I study the matter,
the more questions I have about it. But there is one thing I'm
sure about: it was weird seeing Newman from Seinfeld playing
a character in this movie by the name of Newman.

Working While Worrying |

This
week, in neighborhoods surrounding us in every direction, some
nutcase with a rifle has been randomly shooting people. He's
still at large. (You've probably heard about it on the news.)
Anyway, it's got folks around here pretty spooked... we feel
safer just staying in. Meanwhile, the nutcase in the White House
wants to attack Iraq. What's a peace-loving hippie to do?
Anyway, we've been trying to keep busy, working on a whole
bunch of new production efforts we currently have underway. Some
of these projects, like SuperFred and Zendo, I've reported on
in recent weeks; others are
secret at this time, so I can't talk about them yet. Unfortunately,
this leaves me without much to talk about this week.
So, since I just got back from the MVA with my shiny new driver's
license, I'll let you see what my latest mugshot looks like.
It's not great, but it's better than the one I was replacing...
as you can see, five years ago (when I first
started doing weekly updates of this website, by the way) I was
experimenting with facial hair inspired by the Mirror Universe
version of Mr. Spock. I abandoned that look shortly after this
photo was taken, but luckily I remembered to scan my old license
before going in... when you get a new license, they confiscate
your old one.

be careful out there...

Lately, I've really gotten obsessed with the
events of November 22, 1963. I've decided that in a little over
a year, I will make my own pilgrimage to Dallas, to inspect Dealey
Plaza for myself. I've heard there's quite a gathering on the
Grassy Knoll each year, and not only will 2003 be the 40th anniversary
of the JFK shooting, but it even falls on a Saturday. |

My classically-styled vintage Macintosh, which
I keep in a my
writing nook in a quiet spot upstairs, has suddenly stopped
worked. It's probably easier to replace it (again) than fix it...
anybody got one they're trying to get rid of? |

"I was sitting outside the classroom waiting
to go in, and I saw an airplane hit the tower -- the TV was obviously
on. And I said, well, there's one terrible pilot... ...Anyway,
it was an interesting day." -- President
Bush's reminiscences of September 11th, as quoted in "Is
Bush a Liar (or is memory serving him badly)?" at VisualJournalism.com |

- "I recently discovered Icehouse and it is the most original
and highly entertaining game I have seen in a very long time.
The versatility of the Icehouse pieces are worth praise by themselves,
but the games you have created for them are spectacular and creative.
I just wanted to take the time to extend a word of gratitude
to your entire staff. Thank you for your games and the effort
you have put into them to make them original and entertaining." -- Ben H, via email
