"I never thought I'd see such a group of oddballs actually
be successful in marketing. Kudos to you. I will definitely buy
your games once I get some money. But for now I had a riot just
looking over your great site. Just when I thought the site couldn't
get any funnier or kookier, there's more links leading out to
more great quotes and opinions. Thanks for being what you are
and doing what you're doing." -- Marissa

Gadgets and Other Good Stuff |
|
As
usual, there's a lot going on here at the Lab. Here's a sampling:
- Early American Chrononauts (EAC)
continues to shape up well. This week we added a new card type,
the Gadget, and the new cards in this category (various types
of Time Machines, plus the Temporal Shield, Chrono-FRED, and
the Head-in-a-Jar) are proving very successful in playtesting.
I'm fully expecting to meet my April 30th deadline.
- The accounting department got a lot done this week: our taxes
are filed, the books are closed, and Meg ran a bunch of projections
for the rest of the year that show we'll need to print Fluxx
just before EAC and more pyramids just after that, because it's
all selling so well we need to reprint again. Yikes!
- Meg and Joe fixed our broken dryer! And while he was here
for that, the Jolly Blonde Giant also bashed Bertha's
bent bumper back into place! And he did it using only his
foot and a big piece of wood!
- We paused on Tuesday to celebrate National Alison Day. She
got a bunch of great new music CDs for her birthday, among other
things, including a new large gund bear (though not as big as
Monstro) she named Maxwell von Munchausen IV.
- We found time to see a movie for a change: Eternal Sunshine
of the Spotless Mind. Wow. It was mind-blowingly good. I haven't
been able to stop thinking about it.
- Kristin's cellphone got lost while we were at the movies,
but thanks for a stranger named Onias who found it and got it
back to us, all is well!
Anyway, the biggest thing on our minds now is the need to
get ready to drive up to Buffalo for UBCON
tomorrow. We're the Guests of Honor, and we've got something
new up our sleeves we're gonna start trying out this weekend,
so if you're within driving distance of upstate New York, consider
a visit to Bufalo to play games with us this weekend! Otherwise...

Someone is using my name in a hoax of some kind.
I've been pointed to a webpage that purports to be an interview
with me, Andrew Looney, about a computer game called Subspace
2: Legacy. But Icebreaker remains my last video game... I
have nothing to do with this "interview" by Harvey
Birde. If this is supposed to be an April Fool's joke or something,
I don't get it. |

"That's why we need a Constitutional amendment that
will protect marriage for straight people. Until we have the
right to enter that sacred union, violate it, exit it, and enter
it again with somebody else, again and again, regardless of what
crimes we commit, until we're too old and feeble to mouth the
words, 'I do,' -- unless we have that right and gay people don't,
then there is truly nothing sacred in the United States of America." -- Adam
Felber, "A Concise History of "My Marriage (2003-2004)" |

"So once again those who favor a less militant
approach to the nation's drug war - and only want the freedom
to make their case to the public - have been forced to trot back
to federal court to secure their First Amendment rights. On Wednesday,
the American Civil Liberties Union and the Drug Policy Alliance,
among other groups, filed suit against U.S. Transportation Secretary
Norman Mineta and the Washington Metro, after the D.C. transit
system refused to accept a paid ad by the groups that proclaimed:
'Marijuana Laws Waste Billions of Taxpayer Dollars to Lock Up
Non-Violent Americans.'" -- Robyn E. Blumner,
